1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy
In 1:1 ABA Therapy, we will create an individualized behavior treatment plan and pair you with one of our talented Behavior Technicians to implement it.
Every session, our Behavior Technician will work on goals designed to mitigate undesirable behaviors and support the client's development.
A member of our leadership team is also assigned to each case to collect additional data, adjust the plan's strategies as needed, and collaborate with our Behavior Technicians to provide the most thorough and well-rounded support possible.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding and changing behavior, focusing on socially significant skills by using reinforcement and breaking down complex tasks into smaller steps to teach new abilities, improve communication, reduce challenging behaviors, and enhance overall quality of life for people of all ages, especially those with developmental disabilities like autism. It's an individualized, data-driven therapy that works by identifying what triggers a behavior (antecedent), the behavior itself, and what follows (consequence) to promote positive changes. As behavior therapy relies on consistency, it is recommended that at least 30-40 hours per week be spent in session with your Behavior Technician to ensure the best long-term results in the shortest timeframe possible.
Some of the areas in which Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy shows significant improvement are:
Communication: Enhancing verbal and non-verbal skills, including expressive and pragmatic language.
Social Skills: Improving interactions, understanding social cues, and building relationships.
Daily Living Skills: Teaching self-care (hygiene, grooming), routines, and independence.
Academic & Cognitive Skills: Boosting reading, learning, and focus.
Behavior Reduction: Decreasing challenging behaviors like aggression, tantrums, or self-injury.
Emotional Regulation: Learning coping mechanisms for anxiety, stress, and other mental health challenges.
How does it work?
Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy depends on consistency and data analysis. Some of the regularly implemented techniques used are as follows:
Positive Reinforcement: Rewarding desired behaviors to encourage them.
Behavior Replacement: Redirecting undesirable and problematic behaviors to desirable, safe behaviors.
Skill Breakdown: Breaking complex skills into smaller, manageable steps.
Generalization: Teaching skills to be used in different settings and situations.
Data-Driven: Therapists track progress to adjust goals and plans.
